Coconut Oil and Dog Bites

A week and a half ago my four year old Shih Tzu bit my nose. After a visit to the emergency room to get stitches, I left with a plan to put Neosporin on the infected/damaged area.

However, once I got home, I wondered what would happen if I put coconut oil on the wound. Coconut oil is antibacterial and promotes healing. After just a few days of keeping the wound saturated with coconut oil, I am shocked to say that the wound is healing beautifully. I understand that there is some controversy as to whether you should keep a wound wet or dry. However, once I started keeping the wound coated in coconut oil, it was easy to see the benefits of keeping the wound moist. The theory is that a moist environment promotes a healthy environment for cell recovery.

I am continually amazed at the internal and external healing properties of coconut oil. Wherever I put this product, it heals and seems to work in almost a magical way.
