Interesting fact about Coconut Oil
I am constantly torn about coconut oil as I am sure you are, too. However, it is really hard to find something that actually refutes the positive benefits of coconut oil. Here is another reason that you should be incorporating coconut oil regularly in your diet:
I read this great piece of research from a popular web site on coconut oil:
"G. W. Crile and his wife found that the metabolic rate of people in Yucatan, where coconut is a staple food, averaged 25% higher than that of people in the United States." (This was pulled from information prepared by Dr. Mercola.) This is even more interesting as metabolic rates should be slower given the very hot climate of these people.
Isn't that amazing?!! I have read where coconut oil boosts your metabolic rate but I haven't read anywhere that notes how much. Metabolic rates seem to be activated by the medium chain fatty acids present in this type of saturated fat. It is contrary to popular belief but eating coconut oil increases your metabolic rate and as a result you become leaner by consumption of coconut oil.
